MOUNT ARLINGTON BOROUGH LOAN CLOSING

NJ I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

Mount Arlington Borough recently closed on two loans with the New Jersey Water Bank. One loan for $479,456 is for the purchase of a street sweeper to improve water quality in the Borough. The street sweeper will be used to reduce the debris and solids loading that enter through the Borough's storm water system to protect and enhance the water quality of Lake Hopatcong.

The second loan for $818,657 will finance the rehabilitation of the Schmitz Terrace Standpipe, which is part of Mount Arlington's drinking water high pressure distribution system. The Standpipe is almost twenty years old, and the latest inspection indicated that the tank had areas of rusting, delamination and corrosion along with some biological growth that will be addressed. The inspection also identified some safety concerns related to personnel access that will also be rehabilitated. Once a ground water main at Schmitz Terrace is replaced, additional water mains will be upgraded throughout the Borough over the next five years in accordance with the finalized Asset Management Plan.
