CLINTON TOWN WELL CONSOLIDATION AND PFAS TREATMENT

The Town of Clinton recently closed on a $7.4 million loan with the New Jersey Water Bank to improve the reliability and quality of its drinking water supply by addressing PFAS contamination.

The project will consolidate source water from the Town's Wells 3A and 16 at a centralized treatment facility designed to remove PFAS from the drinking water. By directing water from both wells to a single treatment location, the Town will be able to treat the combined water supply more efficiently while ensuring that finished drinking water meets applicable State and federal PFAS standards.

PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are a group of manufactured chemicals that are persistent in the environment and have been detected in drinking water supplies throughout New Jersey and across the country. Investments in treatment infrastructure allow water systems to address these contaminants while maintaining important local water sources.

The project will strengthen Clinton's drinking water infrastructure, improve the long-term reliability of its water supply and help ensure the continued delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water to residents and businesses.

Through the New Jersey Water Bank, communities across the state can access low-cost financing to make critical drinking water improvements that protect public health and support resilient water systems for years to come.
