WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP MUA WATERMAIN REPLACEMENT

The Washington Township Municipal Utilities Authority (WTMUA) recently closed on a $1.8 million loan with the New Jersey Water Bank to replace approximately 2,000 linear feet of aging water main in the Schooley's Mountain section of the system near Fawnridge Drive.

Replacing this section of water main will improve the reliability and resilience of the local drinking water distribution system by reducing the risk of water main breaks, leaks, and service interruptions. Modern water mains also help maintain consistent water pressure and support the delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water to residents.

The project will also help the MUA meet Water Quality Accountability Act (WQAA) requirements, which require New Jersey water utilities to proactively inspect, maintain, and renew critical drinking water infrastructure. By replacing aging infrastructure before failures occur, the project supports long-term system reliability, protects public health, and helps ensure dependable water service for the community for years to come.
