RIVERSIDE SEWERAGE AUTHORITY HEADWORKS UPGRADES

The Riverside Sewerage Authority recently closed on a $4.1 million loan with the New Jersey Water Bank to rehabilitate the existing failing grit removal system and the construction of a mechanical rag removal system at the Riverside Sewerage Treatment Plant.

The project includes rehabilitation of the plant's existing grit removal system, which has deteriorated and is no longer operating reliably, as well as construction of a new mechanical rag removal system. These systems play an important role in the wastewater treatment process by removing sand, grit, rags and other debris from incoming wastewater before it reaches downstream treatment equipment.

By improving the removal of these materials early in the treatment process, the project will help protect pumps and other equipment from damage, reduce maintenance needs and improve the overall efficiency and reliability of plant operations.

These upgrades will replace aging infrastructure, help extend the useful life of critical treatment equipment and support the Riverside Sewerage Authority's continued ability to provide reliable wastewater treatment while protecting public health and the environment.
