Longport Borough recently closed on a $4 million loan through the New Jersey Water Bank to finance the replacement of lead service lines from the water main to individual buildings throughout the borough. Replacing these aging pipes will help ensure residents have access to safer, cleaner drinking water by reducing the risk of lead exposure. Lead exposure can cause serious health problems, particularly for children, including developmental delays, learning difficulties, and other long-term health effects.
The project will protect public health while modernizing the Borough's drinking water infrastructure for the future.
