PRINCETON WITHERSPOON STREET IMPROVEMENTS

NJ I-Bank and NJDOT Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

Princeton recently closed on an $6,934,000 loan with the NJ Transportation Bank to address pedestrian hazards on Witherspoon Street. Improvements include concrete sidewalks on both sides of the road, with ADA-ramps and crosswalks. All of the curb ramps will be reconstructed with cast iron detectable warning surfaces. The centerline of the road will be raised at the southern end of the project to lessen the grade difference between the on-street parking and the adjacent sidewalk. Sidewalks will be replaced because street tree roots have caused tripping hazards. Cast iron tree grates will be installed around new trees to provide additional pedestrian space.
