ESSEX FELLS BOROUGH PFAS TREATMENT LOAN

NJ I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

Essex Fells Borough recently closed on a $5,400,000 loan with the NJ Water Bank to address excessive levels of PFAS and PFOS. This group of chemicals is commonly used in a wide range of industrial processes and is found in many consumer products. PFAS can penetrate the water supply and affect drinking water quality. This project includes the design and installation of a permanent Granular Activated Carbon or GAC treatment system. This solution will remove PFAS from the water supply and bring the borough into compliance with New Jersey's drinking water maximum contaminant level (MCL) standards.
