NEWTON TOWN SPARTA AVENUE PUMP STATION REPLACEMENT
Newton Town recently closed on a $4.1 million loan with the New Jersey Water Bank to rehabilitate its Sparta Avenue Pump Station, a critical component of the community's wastewater infrastructure.
The existing pump station has reached the end of its useful service life and requires replacement to ensure reliable wastewater service for years to come. The project will construct a new pump station adjacent to the existing facility, allowing the current station to remain fully operational throughout construction. This approach minimizes the need for temporary bypass pumping, reducing construction impacts and helping maintain uninterrupted service.
Once the new pump station is complete and wastewater flows have been redirected, the existing facility will be decommissioned and demolished. The structure and equipment will be removed below grade, and the site will be backfilled with suitable material.
