CITY OF NEWARK LOAN CLOSING

NJ I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

The City of Newark recently closed on a $40 million loan with the NJ Water Bank to complete Phase 3 of its lead service line replacement project, replacing 15,000 lead service lines. The project will remove the risks and adverse health effects of lead exposure due to the old houses and buildings with lead service lines. Corrosion of the lead service lines adds lead to treated water as it travels through the lines. The City is committed to providing its residents with a safe, clean, and reliable supply of drinking water.
