NJ I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

The Borough of Brielle recently completed construction of an elevated storage tank financed with approximately $3.53 million in loans from the NJ Water Bank, a low-rate funding program jointly administered by the DEP and the NJ I-Bank. Total savings for this project is estimated to be $645,800 over the 20-year term of the loan or approximately 18% of total project costs. In addition to improving drinking water infrastructure, the project created an estimated 42 direct construction jobs.

The project consists of the design and construction of a new 300,000-gallon elevated water storage tank at Brielle's Old Bridge Road water plant. The project enabled the borough to stabilize and maintain its compliance of drinking water distribution assets and optimize the distribution of potable water quality.

"Our commitment to clean water and reliable service requires that we make critical infrastructure improvements," said Thomas Nicol, Mayor of Brielle Borough. "This project enhances the integrity of our service and contributes to the overall efficiency of our distribution system. In addition, strategic borrowing from the Water Bank supports the economic vitality of our borough by minimizing the impact of the cost of improvements on our rate payers."

This project was designed by H2M Engineers and constructed by J.F. Kiely Construction Company.
