STAFFORD TOWNSHIP LOAN CLOSING

J I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

Stafford Township recently closed on a $2,778,245 loan with the NJ Water Bank to phase in replacement of the sanitary sewer. The sewer main has reached the end of its useful life and has been repaired in several locations under emergency conditions. The age and material of the pipes entails skilled repair work to avoid further damage during replacement. The collapse of the mains can cause sewer blockages and backups that could expose residents to raw sewage. The area is in a flood zone and close to open waterways that feed the Manahawkin Bay. The water table is high in the project area, increasing the potential for water infiltration. The initial phase will replace the failing asbestos cement pipe system with approximately 8,150 linear feet of 8" PVC Sanitary Sewer Main. The project will include the construction of 30 new sanitary sewer manholes, and 242 new sewer laterals and cleanouts. Drainage catch basins will be replaced, new cross drains will be installed, and the road will be repaved.
