JMEUC LOAN CLOSING

NJ I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

The Joint Meeting of Essex and Union Counties (JMEUC) recently closed on a $9,460,000 loan with the NJ Water Bank for Planning and Design for Phase II Flood Mitigation. The project includes upgrades to the existing co-generation Facility to power the proposed effluent pumping station, two proposed stormwater pumping stations, and the existing sludge dewatering facility. This project will reduce the impact of natural disasters on the facility preventing future interruption of wastewater service. By minimizing potential facility failures, the JMEUC increases resiliency and decreases the risk of untreated sewage polluting the environment, protecting public health and natural resources. Municipalities included in the joint meeting are East Orange City, Elizabeth City, Hillside Township, Maplewood Township, Millburn Township, Newark City, Roselle Park Borough, South Orange Village Township, Summit City, Union Township, and West Orange Township.
