Wildwood Crest Borough recently closed on a $3.2 million loan from the NJ Water Bank to replace approximately 3,915 linear feet of aging sanitary sewer main and 96 sanitary sewer service connections. The project also includes restoring the asphalt roadway and concrete curbing to its original condition.
The existing sewer infrastructure, comprised of vitrified clay and asbestos-cement pipes, has significantly deteriorated over time due to corrosion. Aging clay pipes are especially prone to collapse, leading to sewer blockages and potential groundwater infiltration. Replacing these outdated components will improve system reliability and protect public health and the environment.
