VERONA TOWNSHIP FAIRVIEW WELLS

Verona Township recently closed on a $3.6 million loan with the NJ Water Bank to upgrade its existing well treatment facility with new technology designed to remove per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from the well supply. PFAS are a group of synthetic chemicals used in a wide range of industrial applications and everyday products including non-stick cookware, water-repellent fabrics, and firefighting foams. Because they do not readily break down, PFAS persist in the environment and can accumulate in soil, air, and water over time. Once they reach surface water or groundwater, they can contaminate drinking water sources and pose significant risks to human health. 

The project includes construction of a new pre-engineered building to house the PFAS treatment system. This upgrade ensures Verona's residents continue to have safe, clean, and reliable drinking water for generations to come.
