The Passaic Valley Water Commission ("PVWC") recently closed on two loans from the NJ Water Bank totaling $6 million to support the replacement of approximately 70,000 customer meters and 105 wholesale meters across its service area. Wholesale meters measure the flow of water purchased or sold in bulk. One loan was issued through the Water Bank's Drinking Water Program and the other through the Clean Water Program. Utilizing both programs allows PVWC to maximize principal forgiveness at long-term closing. The project will include the planning, procurement, and phased installation of the new meters.
By enabling more accurate readings, the new meters will encourage water conservation and reduce wastewater flow. The project will also enhance operational reliability and efficiency, improve overall system integrity, and help reduce unaccounted-for water losses across the network.
