Park Ridge Borough recently closed on a $2.8 million loan from the NJ Water Bank to supplement its water supply and meet projected future demand. As part of this effort, the borough has permitted and drilled two new wells (Well 21-1 and Well 21-2). The project includes the installation of a pitless unit with a submersible pump in Well 21-1, the construction of a new well treatment building, and the connection of the well to the building through underground piping. The pitless unit ensures a clean and secure connection from the well casing to the pipeline that carries water to the treatment building. This setup prevents contamination, protects against freezing, and meets modern health and safety standards.
The treatment facility will remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including tetrachloroethene (PCE) and perchlorate, from the groundwater to ensure a safe and reliable potable water supply.
