NEWARK CITY PEQUANNOCK AQUEDUCT REHABILITATION
The City of Newark recently closed on a $15,266,048 loan with the NJ Water Bank to rehabilitate the first six miles upstream of the twin, parallel, 42- and 48-inch Pequannock aqueducts in West Milford, Kinnelon, Butler, and Pequannock.
The proposed work includes air/vacuum release, aqueduct sustainability, aqueduct operability and site work. The city is committed to providing the community with safe, clean and reliable drinking water. This project will preserve and extend the useful life of the aqueducts for as long as is feasible, improve site safety, security, and access of the system.
