Hawthorn Borough recently closed on two loans totaling $4.3 million from the NJ Water Bank to finance phases 2 and 3 of its lead line replacement initiative. Across both phases the borough will replace approximately 543 galvanized lines.
Galvanized pipes can corrode over time and may release lead if they are or were ever connected to lead components. Replacing them helps protect public health, improve water quality, and ensure compliance with state and federal safety standards.
