The Camden County Municipal Utility Authority ("CCMUA") recently closed on a $3.7 million loan with the New Jersey Water Bank to upgrade its Delaware#1 Water Pollution Control Facility ("WPCF"). This project will modernize critical equipment and infrastructure within the facility's Sludge Storage Facilities by replacing the existing dewatering conveyor system and rehabilitating the concrete floors. The current conveyor system has reached the end of its useful life and no longer provides consistent, reliable sludge handling. In addition, sections of the concrete floor have deteriorated over time due to heavy use and exposure to corrosive materials, creating increasing maintenance demands.
Replacement of the dewatering conveyor system will improve the facility's ability to transport and manage dewatered sludge safely and efficiently, while the concrete floor rehabilitation will restore structural integrity, reduce the risk of equipment damage, and improve housekeeping and worker safety within the storage area. By addressing both equipment performance and facility condition, this project strengthens day-to-day operations and brings the sludge storage facilities into compliance with applicable regulatory and operational standards. The improvements will also strengthen environmental protection by reducing the potential for spills or leakage and extend the useful life of the facility.
