PENNSVILLE SA LOAN CLOSING

NJ I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

The Pennsville Sewerage Authority (PSA) recently closed on a $798,254 loan with the New Jersey Water Bank to replace a force main at Pumping Station No. 3. PSA has been evaluating its sanitary sewer system infrastructure within the Township to identify equipment and components that are aging or reaching the end of their life cycle. If replaced, such components would reduce maintenance time and costs, and improve operations. The first phase of the capital plan includes the force main replacement at Pumping Station No. 3.

This project will protect and enhance the existing sanitary sewer system and wastewater treatment plant. The PSA has observed that the frequency of repairs within the system has increased in recent years, suggesting that the infrastructure is reaching the end of its service life cycle. Failing to maintain the current infrastructure will increase the risk of discharging wastewater that has not been adequately treated, increase emergency repairs and result in sewer main breaks and future service interruptions, undermining roadways. The replacement of the existing sanitary sewer force main will reinforce the system and protect local water quality.
