HACKENSACK CITY ANDERSON DRAINAGE AREA SEWER SEPARATION

NJ I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

The City of Hackensack recently closed on a $10,965,153 loan with the NJ Water Bank to design and install new separated storm and sanitary sewers and to rehabilitate existing sewers. The project will take place near the border of the city's Anderson and Court Street Drainage Areas near Railroad Avenue. The project brings Hackensack into compliance with the New Jersey Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NJPDES) Combined Sewer Overflow Permit requirements, and the city's Long Term Control Plan (LTCP) stipulating the identification and construction of feasible sewer separations. The improvements will provide linear stormwater storage while reducing combined sewer overflows. Green infrastructure will also be evaluated and implemented when possible.
