ALLENTOWN BOROUGH LOAN CLOSING 004

NJ I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

Allentown Borough recently closed on a $1,909,800 loan with the New Jersey Water Bank for site improvements to the water treatment plant. The plant has been in continuous use for over 50 years with two wells working in alternating cycles allowing the other to rest. Because of continuous use and wear, the proposed improvements are necessary to keep the plant operational and compliant with NJDEP regulations.

The project includes the replacement of filter media and the associated underdrain system as well as the installation of tube settlers, a backwash air system, new security measures, and forced air ventilation. The aerators will be inspected and upgraded, valves will be replaced, and improvements made to interior lighting, as well as the cleaning and painting of backwash holding tanks. A new emergency generator will be installed, roofs and windows replaced, and sludge tank improvements made. Well No. 2 will be rehabilitated, new fencing constructed, exterior piping insulated, and embankment stabilized along Indian Run. The existing retaining wall will be rehabilitated and extended.
