Raritan Township recently closed on a $2.6 million loan from the NJ Transportation Bank to reconstruct ten aging roadways originally built in the 1980s. The project includes resurfacing and necessary base repairs to restore pavement conditions and extend the useful life of these roads. All catch basins along the project routes will be repaired and parged, a process in which a thin layer of mortar is applied to the interior surface to seal and strengthen the structure.
Each basin will also be retrofitted with Type N-ECO Phase II heads and bicycle-safe grates. These NJDEP-approved components are designed to improve stormwater management while preventing debris entry and enhancing safety for cyclists. In addition, new traffic signs and pavement striping will be installed to improve roadway visibility and safety for all users.
