Mendham Township recently closed on a $2.2 million loan from the NJ Transportation Bank to mill and resurface approximately two inches of pavement across 11 streets. As part of the project, all non-compliant curb ramps in the affected area will be removed and reconstructed to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards and New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) construction specifications. In addition, new concrete sidewalks and driveway aprons will be constructed in accordance with the Public Rights-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG), which establish federal standards for accessible pedestrian infrastructure within the public right-of-way.
Upon completion of paving, new traffic striping and pavement markings will be installed following the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), the national standard for traffic signs, signals, and roadway markings that promote consistency and safety across public roadways.
