BERGEN COUNTY UA CO-GEN UNITS REPAIR LOAN CLOSING

NJ I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

The Bergen County Utilities Authority (BCUA) recently closed on a $3,000,000 loan with the New Jersey Water Bank. The Bergen County Utility Authority (BCUA) has two Jenbacher cogeneration (co-gen) units (#1 and #2) that have been operating since 2007/8 and are at or approaching the milestone of 60,000 operating hours. These units are an essential source of power to the facility and must undergo a major inspection and maintenance interval at this milestone when they will be rebuilt or reconditioned. There are also several resiliency, state-of-good repair (SOGR) and compliance improvements related to the co-gen units. The improvements include coordination with the ongoing Black Start Project, control system modifications, ancillary systems within the building, heat exchanger issues, emissions analysis, G1 and G2 60,000-hour overhaul/rebuild, the overhaul extra options, and overall power resiliency issues.
