HOBOKEN CITY SINATRA DRIVE REDESIGN

NJ I-Bank and NJDOT Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

Hoboken City recently closed on a $6,388,267 loan with the NJ Transportation Bank to redesign Sinatra Drive. The project will improve pedestrian safety by installing five painted curb extensions near Stevens Park, four high visibility crosswalks with ADA-compliant curb ramps, and new pavement markings to slow vehicular traffic. On-street parking capacity will also improve through the addition of nine parking spaces. The project also includes the construction of a protected two-way cycle track that will close the gap in the "green circuit" of Hoboken's bikeway path. The cycle track will be protected by a raised median of varied widths of concrete or featuring trees and other landscaping. The project corridor will feature five raised crossings with rectangular rapid flashing beacons at each crossing. The project improvements will also include ADA improvements, pavement rehabilitation, and hydrant relocations.
