GLOUCESTER COUNTY UTILITIES AUTHORITY CHP LOAN CLOSING

NJ I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

The Gloucester County Utilities Authority recently closed on a $13,848,103 loan with the NJ Water Bank to finance a combined heat and power cogeneration system for the anaerobic digesters. Biogas generated through the digestion process will be collected, processed through a gas conditioning system, and used for fuel in a combustion engine that will be linked to 1000-kilowatt power generating units. Energy generated by the system will be used to power the wastewater treatment facility. By implementing this process, GCUA anticipates being close to net zero energy status.
