WOODBINE LOAN CLOSING

The Borough of Woodbine recently closed on a $5 million loan with the NJ Water Bank to Replace and upgrade major water treatment plant components and install new water mains. In order to comply with the New Jersey Safe Drinking Water Act, the Borough has developed an Asset Management Plan that will project the timing and costs of future capital improvements. Many of the treatment plant components are over forty years old and have only been maintained with minor upgrades  over the years. These components are in need of replacement or renovation and need to be brought up to current day standards including compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, security and emergency preparedness requirements, and automation of equipment. The project will also address the contamination of private water supply wells in part of the Borough that currently use Point of Entry treatment (POET) systems. The extension of the Fidler Hill Water Main to the former F&S Landfill area would bring municipal water service to these residents, eliminating the need for their continued use of POET systems.
