LITTLE EGG HARBOR MUA LOAN CLOSING

NJ I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

The Little Egg Harbor Municipal Utilities Authority recently closed on a $1,095,374 loan with the NJ Water Bank to replace deteriorated water mains on Mystic Island along East & West Mohawk Drive, East & West Delaware Drive, and East & West Mullica Road. The water mains will be replaced with approximately 6,000 linear feet of 8-inch diameter PVC water distribution main. 11 fire hydrants and 220 water service connections will also be installed. Superstorm Sandy struck the New Jersey coastline in 2012, resulting in a fluctuation in the soils causing a substantial increase in utility failures along the hardest hit areas. This area of town is highly vulnerable due to the age and material of the existing pipe which has weakened due to heavy equipment used for the reconstruction of private residences in the same area. Several pipes have burst in various locations over the last few years causing restricted paving operations involving vibratory rollers.
